Popular Cosplay Characters

Can anyone provide some ideas for a fairly simple cosplay?
This is my first time become a cosplay convention, and I'm not sure go to what. My biggest factor is that I do not want to cut or my hair color. Straightening or other styling is not a problem. I have shoulder length black Hair, about 5'3, 120lbs, to give you a rough "I" idea. Simply, I am not familiar enough to come with the usual media with a character with a vague "I" similarities. So you could give me some ideas? The simpler the better, but I'm open to compexities.
Why you should also to do it, if you do not have enough interest to even a character that you identify with / look like? It sounds like a complete waste of time for Them. Why do not you do something which you are interested, or are passionate about? All the anime characters look the same, and anime characters are anatomically correct, people so you could probably take any of them. Only your own love of the show / character makes it worthwhile.
