Who should my child cosplay as?

Ok, so I think going to an upcoming anime con and want to dress up my son. What is more popular than chibi Characters? Lol. Looking for cute and cheap ideas. It is usually 2 and outgoing, but will probably just sit around looking cute and shy, while there. Has short brown hair (dying is not an option lol). Wow thanks for all the input so fast!
