Auron from Final Fantasy - Cosplay?

So I'm going to Sakura-con and I have never in my life costumes. I usually sew by hand and do not have much Experience with a sewing machine. My friend wants as Auron from Final Fantasy X-dress, and I want to make the costume for him. Who knows how to do this? And is difficult with a sewing machine?
